TELECOM ECOLE DE MANAGEMENT
EUROPEAN SUMMER SCHOOL 2013

Aegis International Student Exchange Program
Aegis has a student exchange program with TELECOM ECOLE DE MANAGEMENT. Telecom Ecole de Management is an institute based in Paris. The School has been recognized for its dual expertise in management and information and communication technologies (ITC). Telecom Ecole de Management has a network of more than 300 corporate partners and more than 4000 active alumni. The School’s governing bodies include world renowned companies, such as Vivendi, Orange, BNP, EADS, etc.

In 2013 its European Summer School will take place from June, Monday 17th to July, Friday 12th. The Aegis students will have an opportunity to experience different culture and markets and an exposure on technological evolutions transforming the European economy.

Summer School Program Details:

Program 1:  Management: the European Approach
By Dr. Bhumika Gupta
The aim of this course is to present the main specific stakes and issues of French and European management. We will present an overview of the current and future, emphasizing specific contents and key issues regarding management theories and practice both in France and Europe.

Program 2: Information Technology in Europe
By Dr. Anouck ADROT
The objective of the course is to introduce to students the main technological evolutions that have been transforming the European economy from the last decade. Thus the track puts into perspective technological innovation and how organizations and populations have been affected by these changes. The track involves a reflection through the topics about the future of technology in Europe.
Two field trips: Geneva, Switzerland and Brussels, Belgium.

Program 3: Cross Cultural Approach to French
By Bernard GRUAS
The aim of this course is to heighten awareness of communication difficulties caused by cultural diversity. We will look at some of the major obstacles to communication in a multicultural situation and propose possible solutions.

Common to all programs: French classes
The afternoon is dedicated to the learning of French language (2 hours every day). During the first class, students take tests and are split into groups according to their level. The advanced level group only opens with a minimum of 8 students.

Aim: To allow students, based on their level of French, either to be introduced to the language for practical use or to improve their proficiency in the language.

Field Trips
Two field trips per program are included. Students enrolled in the Management and IT tracks will visit Geneva in Switzerland and Brussels in Belgium. Students in the Cross-cultural track will travel to Lyon, a historical city on the Rhone River, and to the Loire Valley castles.

Prerequisites
Students must have completed their graduate studies and must be fluent in English as all classes are taught in English. It is not necessary to speak French.

Registrations can be made using the online application form open from January 30, 2013.

To complete the registration, the following documents have to be submitted to the admissions office:
- Photocopy of passport
- 1 recent passport-size photo
- Official transcripts of the past two years
- Resume
- Copy of the liability and health insurance

General Information
The participants will experience an unforgettable 4-week stay on a green campus close to Paris. While attending various and interesting courses, they will improve their knowledge about European issues and learn the basics of French. They will enjoy the French way of life, discover Paris and its surroundings, participate in the field trips to Geneva and Brussels or to Lyon and Loire Valley castles (according to the program they enroll in). A unique opportunity to meet students from all over the world!

*Arrival day: Monday, June 17
 A fee-paying shuttle service (EUR 20.00) will be available for students arriving at Charles de Gaulle Airport. Airport pick-up for arrivals prior to this date is not guaranteed.

Campus and Surroundings
Télécom Ecole de Management is located 20 miles south of Paris, at a 10-minute walk from the nearest train station and a 35-minute ride from Paris. The School shares its campus with its sister engineering school, Télécom SudParis. The six-hectare campus has many open spaces and secured entrances/exits; a wide range of facilities for both sports and cultural events are available. An excellent student/faculty ratio of nearly one professor for every 16 students and 60 student associations and clubs

Housing
Accommodation is on campus at the MAISEL, in single occupancy rooms with a private bathroom. Each room has a full bath, refrigerator, closets, small furnishings and a telephone. Bed linen is also provided, although towels are not. Kitchen and laundry facilities are located on the ground floor of each building and are common to all students.

All rooms have high-speed, broad band Internet. For your security, access to each residence hall of the MAISEL is controlled with a code.

Meal Plan
The on-campus restaurant is open from Monday to Friday. Snacks are available 24/7. All meals included in the meal plan (breakfast and lunch, from Monday to Friday) are taken at the restaurant on campus. A great choice of dishes is offered: starters, main dish, dairy products, desserts. During the week it is possible to also have dinner at the restaurant for the approximate price of EUR 5.00 for a full meal. When the restaurant is closed (on weekends and in the evenings as of the beginning of July), students can cook their own meals in the MAISEL kitchens or go out to the nearby restaurants.
